We went on a field trip to Waynesboro, VA and found the best stitch store, Cross Stitch Station! Terry Thompson is the owner of this little wonder, and it’s been opened for 40 years! What rock have I been hiding under that I had never been? The store was filled to the brim, with even more coming after the Nashville buyer’s market in March…I can’t wait!
Terry and I have more than stitching in common…we both love bees! In fact, her hubby has several beehives! So, of course she has a lot of bee cross stitch and punch needle patterns in store…and this incredible fabric! It’s printed with little hexagons to make the perfect honeycomb pattern and is gorgeous! Terry also showed us this little tin, String Thing. The top is magnetic and will hold your needle tight, but it has a hole in it so you can insert thread from the other side, and it will hold your balls of Valdani thread tight! It will frustrate my cats but is going to make me very happy!
It was so difficult to narrow down our choices when we wanted to buy everything in this store! But Jack made his decision quickly thanks to Terry’s genius recommendation…Painted Perforated Paper by Mill Hill Beads! We bought the Misty Lime, White, Antique Brown and Sea Mist…but there were even more colors than these! If you have any type of vision issues that make stitching on fabric difficult, try this instead. The holes are so clear and easy to see so you know exactly where to put your needles…it’s made all the difference for our stitching!
Want to make your tiny stitches stand out and become a mazillion times easier to stitch? Jack found this Lighted Head Magnifying Glasses Visor Headset with Light Headband and Magnifier Loupe and it is a game changer! With vision issues, it used to take Jack an hour to even do 8 or 10 stitches…and with it came a migraine. But now, he can stitch for hours without a problem! This nifty headset has made cross stitching a much more enjoyable process. Try it! (As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. I had to buy this cross stitch pattern by Madame Chantilly, “Pumpkin Thieves.” It’s retro, it’s Halloween, it has orange and a soft blue green color, witches and cats…in a rocket balloon!!!! It’s perfect! How could I not buy this design!
Although I snagged this pattern as well in store, if you want your own copy visit www.heavenandearthdesigns.com and you can buy one for yourself! I love it! It’s called “Mini Lesley’s Cats at Halloween.” While it’s all gorgeous, I think I’ll do several elements of it as separate ornaments for my Halloween tree. So many cats to stitch now!
In store, there was a sample stitch of “Winter Snow Owl” by Blackberry Lane Designs. The colors are so soft and lovely I just couldn’t resist getting this pattern and I can’t wait to begin stitching! I hope to dye my own fabric because I love the soft mottled gray background. So pretty!
We can’t wait to get back to Cross Stitch Station! Terry Thompson is gracious with her time and knowledge and is there to help you with any of your questions. She had linens galore, an incredible variety of specialty threads, cross stitch AND punch needle supplies, and can even frame your finished work. Don’t hesitate to contact her if you saw a design you loved, and be sure to follow her shop on Facebook page for Cross Stitch Station!
