Creating a punch needle ornament couldn’t be easier! Punch. Glue. Hang! Here are some great process tips and photos to ensure sweet results when making your heart ornament for Valentine’s Day.
When the punching fun is done, cut off the excess weavers cloth, only leaving a small border about 3/8” wide. Fold this edge to the back of your design, overlapping the cloth as needed to keep as neatly to the heart shape as possible. Use a steam iron to flatten the folded cloth. Glue this border to the back of your design.
Cover the back of your punched heart with a thin layer of Tacky glue, then adhere it to the center of your tin heart ornament. Beginning at the v-shaped center while the glue is still wet, carefully lift just the edge of your punched design and insert the edge of your lace, following all the way around the heart shape until the lace meets back at the v-shaped center of the heart. Tie your ribbon in a bow at the base of the twine hanger and your Punch Needle Tin Heart Ornament is ready to give to your Valentine!
