Black hat. Black cat. And a black broom to match. Thank you, dear Wicked Witch of the West, for a uniform that lives in infamy! And the froggy grin skin? That’s sooooo yesterday! (And let’s face it, who has time these days to clean up after flying monkeys?) Why was Dorothy to get the amazing ruby red slippers and Elphaba was shod like an ole fashioned school marm?
No self-respecting modern day witch would be caught dead without a certain pop of color in our wardrobe! Purple, green, orange or yellow, our striped stockings do more than keep us warm, they give everyone else a hint to the brave spirit that lives within!
And the buckled shoes don’t mean that we are buckled down! Perhaps more of a classic look, we can still trade up for a kickin’ pair of boots! Basic black or sparkles and shimmers, lace or chain, buckles or bows, the styling is our own and goes to prove that every gurl needs a great pair of shoes!
Pro Tips: Crisp, clean lines are what this pattern is all about!
- To create a perfect pair of stockings you’ll need precise cuts where the stockings meet! The stripes define the shape of the legs. Where the stripes meet in the middle, be careful not to overcut and keep the corners sharp. Not only does it create more definition, but overcutting will make the cut pumpkin weaker in these areas, making the lines sagging…and no one wants to wear a pair of saggy stockings!
- Want to really make this carving stand out? When you are done carving, light it up. Then stand back a take a long look. Go back and, carefully using a paring or utility knife, trim up your cut lines from any jagged edges and straighten out any wobbly lines until they create smooth, clean lines. Works like magic!
