Dragons! As children, they are perhaps the first creature to capture our imaginations. We battle them. Befriend them. Seek the treasures they guard. And no one can tell us they don’t exist!
Do I believe in dragons? Well, do I believe in unicorns? The answer to both is a resounding, “Yes!” Don’t you? Now, I can’t really say that I believe in tales of magical giant flying lizards that shoot lasers from their eyes, burn up towns in a single fiery breath, and carry away beautiful princesses. But dragons?
Who’s to say they were not real, once upon a time? All great legends have their basis in truth. It’s the hint of reality that makes us believe them! Giant lizards? Yes. Dinosaurs did exist (and, looking at crocodiles today, I’d say that maybe they still do!). Did they fly? Yes, some could (Pterodactyls, anyone?). But breathing fire? Hmmmm.
I think that it could be true! After all, scientists have discovered that bombardier beetles have two chambers inside that contain reactants that, when expelled, combine to create a corrosive substance to kill their enemies. Wowsers! So, the idea of a creature that could shoot out fire? Well, it’s possible! And that’s enough for me to have hope that dragons were, indeed, real!
Pro Tips: This glowing dragon is a Halloween favorite, and the right lighting makes his eyes glow like embers!
- Teeth. Take. Time. However, what’s important to make accurate are the fangs. As for all the smaller teeth, if you show a lot of sharp points, don’t be too worried about following the pattern exactly. (After all, do any of us really know how many teeth a dragon has?)
- It will look just fine if you want to make the spikes along the back of the dragons back a little larger, but make sure they aren’t larger than the dragon’s horns or you will never notice those, and we want this dragon to look scary.
