One thing is for certain, ghosts are here to stay. And really, would we seriously want a world without ghosts?
We can’t have Halloween without ghost galore! And why not have them every day? How many of us grew up with the friendly little ghost, Casper? Or the gooey but endearing Slimer from Ghostbusters? (Admittedly, I still have a soft spot for Slimer!)
And what about the thrill of imagining ourselves as a ghostbuster? We don’t need to wait for Halloween to do that! But once you’ve caught all the ghosts…what do you do with them then? Invite them over for tea? Seek a little revenge on the school bully? Form a conga line in the town’s Christmas parade? (Oh my…how fun would THAT be? Talk about getting into the “spirit of things!)
One thing is for certain, ghosts are here to stay. And really, would we seriously want a world without ghosts? What would be the fun at jumping out at someone and yelling, “BOO!” if we didn’t think ghosts existed? Ebenezer Scrooge would be just another grumpy ole coot with a heart made of coal without ghosts to change his mind. And children everywhere would miss the best part of camping…the retelling of favorite ghost stories ‘round the fire. Yes…ghosts are here to stay, at least in our hearts if not our homes!
Pro Tips: Here are some great tips to make this carving Spooktacular!
- Traces and carve the eyes as they are or add a little more personality by designing your own eyes! Making the eyes rounder and larger which will make the ghost more surprised. Put them closer together for a nearsighted ghost. Make them little dots and place them farther apart so he looks a little more “spacey.” You’re the artist so the choice is up to you!
- The letters of the word, Boo, are fairly thin and some find these a challenge to carve. Just make sure that you don’t overcut and you should be fine. Finding this still too difficult? Forget carving out the letters at all and just carve out the rounded moon. Your carving will still be “bootiful!”
