Alvin – Pumpkin Carving Pattern

On Halloween, Alvin and I look just alike…happy eyes opened wide and a smile stretched from ear to ear! Long live Halloween!

Alvin can’t wait for Halloween…and neither can I!

The truth is that I have and always will love all holidays but none more than Halloween. It was the one day you could be anything that you wanted to be…the only limit was your imagination! You could be as weird as you wanted to be, in fact, the weirder the better!

As for my family, they never went over the top making crazy costumes…our time was spent creating our own “haunted house” each year! With black plastic and rope we’d make the tunnels for hundreds and hundreds of kids to go through and we’d have them screaming! We never had to worry about running out of candy! We scared some kids so badly (usually the teenagers!) that they’d jump, drop their candy buckets, and run then run down the street! One kid was scared so badly he jumped out of his shoes and never came back for them!

Now an adult, Halloween is just as wonderful. At Halloween, we can eat all the candy we want! We don’t have to prepare months and months ahead, spending a fortune trying to buy just the right gifts for everyone on our list. We don’t have to buy any gifts at all! We can spend hours and hours watching all the classic monster movies like Dracula and The Mummy, or more recent witchy wonders like Hocus Pocus and Practical Magic…and the child that still dreams in us eagerly watches the dark skies for The Great Pumpkin to arrive!

On Halloween, Alvin and I look just alike…happy eyes opened wide and a smile stretched from ear to ear! Long live Halloween!

Pro Tips: This is one of the simplest patterns to carve…and the cutest! Feel free to use a small thin nail to poke out a small highlight in each eye to make them gleam. If you want to add a little more personality, carve out some eyebrows to give him more expression, or add a few teeth to make his smile even sweeter!
